2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
Dr. Norris A. Erickson, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on August 20, 2012; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson was born on April 6, 1944, in | ||||||
6 | Davenport, Iowa; he was the son of Alvin and Lila Erickson; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson served his country with pride | ||||||
8 | as a member of the United States Army from 1965 to 1967; during | ||||||
9 | his stint in the Army, he was stationed in Panama as a military | ||||||
10 | policeman; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson graduated from Palmer College | ||||||
12 | of Chiropractic in 1972, following in the footsteps of his | ||||||
13 | father, mother, and aunt; after graduation, he moved to | ||||||
14 | Sandwich, where he joined his aunt, Dr. Jennette Nelson, at her | ||||||
15 | chiropractic office; in 1976, he moved to Aurora and opened the | ||||||
16 | Erickson Chiropractic Center, one of the largest children's | ||||||
17 | practices in Aurora; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson was one of 33 in the first | ||||||
19 | graduating class at Palmer College to receive his LCP from the | ||||||
20 | Palmer Legion of Chiropractic Philosophers in 2000; that same | ||||||
21 | year, he was awarded with a Fellow in the Palmer Academy of |

1 | Chiropractic for his valued contributions to Palmer College and | ||||||
2 | to the advancement of the chiropractic profession; in 2001, he | ||||||
3 | was awarded the Distinguished Fellow from the International | ||||||
4 | Chiropractic Association in recognition of his outstanding | ||||||
5 | contributions to his patients, chiropractics, and humanity in | ||||||
6 | general; in 2005, he earned his Diplomate in Philosophical | ||||||
7 | Chiropractic Standard from the International Chiropractic | ||||||
8 | Association Council of Chiropractic Philosophy; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson was a long-serving Commander | ||||||
10 | on the Roosevelt Aurora Post 84 American Legion; he was a past | ||||||
11 | Kane County Commander of the American Legion and Passe Chef de | ||||||
12 | Gare of the 40 & 8 elite of the American Legion; he was a member | ||||||
13 | of Masonic Lodge #254 and the Aurora Area Shrine Club; he also | ||||||
14 | served as a member on the Aurora Airport board for two decades; | ||||||
15 | and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson was instrumental in bringing | ||||||
17 | the Moving Wall to Aurora in 1989 and in the renaming of | ||||||
18 | Veterans Island, as well as the memorial on it dedicated to all | ||||||
19 | past, present, and future veterans; he was also instrumental in | ||||||
20 | the revival of Aurora's Fourth of July parade; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson sponsored numerous successful | ||||||
22 | softball teams during the 1980's and was referred to by some as | ||||||
23 | the George Steinbrenner of the Fox Valley; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson is survived by his wife, | ||||||
2 | Sally; his daughters, Krista Erickson Tetter, Karsta (Bill) | ||||||
3 | Erickson, and Christine (Tom) Watt; his son, Phillip Baratta; | ||||||
4 | and his grandchildren, Kyra Erickson Tetter, Kelsen Erickson, | ||||||
5 | and Rocco and Anthony Watt; therefore, be it
| ||||||
6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
8 | his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Norris A. Erickson; | ||||||
9 | and be it further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Dr. Norris Erickson as an expression | ||||||
12 | of our sympathy.
