SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Joe Mayeski of Benton, who
4passed away on July 2, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joe Mayeski was born on December 25, 1913, to John
6and Katie (Mick) Mayeski; he graduated Benton High School in
71933; he married Katie Louise (Garavaglia) on November 25,
81945, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benton; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joe Mayeski was a decorated World War II veteran;
10he served in the South Pacific from 1941 to 1945, with the rank
11of Master Technical Sergeant; he owned and operated a Conoco,
12then Marathon, gas station in West City from 1945 to 1963; he
13worked for Southern Illinois University-Carbondale for the
14Maintenance Department; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Joe Mayeski thoroughly enjoyed golfing,
16gardening, and fishing; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joe Mayeski was preceded in death by his wife,
18Katie Louise; his parents, John and Katie Mayeski; and his
19brother, Stanley Mayeski; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Joe Mayeski is survived by his daughter, Anna

1Marie (Ronald) Giacone; his grandchildren, Gina (Steve)
2Giacone Hackman, Jim (Julie) Giacone, and Jennifer Giacone; his
3great-grandchildren, Mitch and Lucy; his step-great-grandson,
4Andrew; his sister, Mildred Brosch; and his sister-in-law, Mary
5Mayeski; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Joe Mayeski, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Joe Mayeski as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
