|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply |
3 | | saddened to learn of the death of Terrence N. "Monk" Tiernan of |
4 | | Waukegan, who passed away on July 19, 2012; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Terrence Tiernan was born on May 9, 1938, in |
6 | | Waukegan; he graduated from Waukegan High School and joined the |
7 | | Marine Corps in 1956; he served for three years and wrestled on |
8 | | the USMC team; he attended the University of Illinois in |
9 | | Champaign and wrestled there also; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Terrence Tiernan was a computer systems analyst |
11 | | for most of his career; he worked at Outboard Marine |
12 | | Corporation, Snap On Tools, and Brunswick Corporation; he also |
13 | | owned or partnered in local businesses, including Action |
14 | | Office, TnT's Tap, and Badger Egg; he retired from civil |
15 | | service at USMEPCOM as Director of Information Management in |
16 | | 2002; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Terrence Tiernan was a member of the Lake County |
18 | | Marine Corps League and a founding member of The Society for |
19 | | the Preservation and Encouragement of Automobile Racing and |
20 | | Beer Drinking in America; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Terrence Tiernan loved spending time with his |
|

1 | | family and friends; he enjoyed golfing, attending auto races, |
2 | | fishing, restoring his 1967 Sunbeam Tiger, cooking, wintering |
3 | | in Ft. Myers, Florida, and the occasional cocktail; he had two |
4 | | holes-in-one while golfing, had a quick wit, and loved telling |
5 | | funny stories; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Terrence Tiernan was preceded in death by his |
7 | | parents, Matthew Tiernan and Magdalen Ditter; his first wife, |
8 | | Kathleen; his brother, James Tiernan; his sister, Patricia; and |
9 | | his stepfather, Richard Ditter; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Terrence Tiernan is survived by his wife of 24 |
11 | | years, Margery (Brecheisen) Tiernan; his son, Michael (Myrta) |
12 | | Tiernan; and his grandchildren, Bryan and James Tiernan; |
13 | | therefore, be it

14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
16 | | Terrence Tiernan, and we extend our sincere condolences to his |
17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
18 | | further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to his family as an expression of our deepest |
21 | | sympathy.
