2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
Robert W. "Rob" Pullen of Naperville, | ||||||
4 | formerly of Niles, who passed away on July 2, 2012; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Robert Pullen was born on May 29, 1962, in Oak | ||||||
6 | Lawn; he married Dawn Amendola on September 16, 1988; he was a | ||||||
7 | resident of Naperville since 1988 and was a member of SS. Peter | ||||||
8 | and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Robert Pullen grew up in Niles, where he was a | ||||||
10 | parishioner and student at Our Lady of Ransom; after graduating | ||||||
11 | from Maine East High School in Park Ridge in 1980, he earned | ||||||
12 | his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with an | ||||||
13 | emphasis in physics from the University of Illinois; in 1993, | ||||||
14 | he earned his MBA in management from the Northwestern | ||||||
15 | University Kellogg School of Business; and

16 | WHEREAS, Robert Pullen served as CEO and President of | ||||||
17 | Tellabs, Inc. and was a member of the company's Board of | ||||||
18 | Directors; after joining the company right out of college in | ||||||
19 | 1985 as an electrical engineer, he worked his way up the | ||||||
20 | corporate ladder to become Chief Executive Officer in 2008 | ||||||
21 | after holding positions in development, sales, marketing, and | ||||||
22 | services; and

1 | WHEREAS, Robert Pullen served as the chairman emeritus of | ||||||
2 | the executive board for the Telecommunications Industry | ||||||
3 | Association and was a former co-chair for SuperComm; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Robert Pullen excelled at baseball and played as | ||||||
5 | the starting shortstop for the University of Illinois at | ||||||
6 | Urbana-Champaign for 4 years; he coached his son's Naperville | ||||||
7 | Little League Cardinals to win the city championship in 2007; | ||||||
8 | he served as a coach of the Naperville White Sox Travel | ||||||
9 | Baseball Team; he also enjoyed traveling the world, boating, | ||||||
10 | water and snow skiing, snowmobiling, and spending time with his | ||||||
11 | family at their lake house in Green Lake, Wisconsin; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Robert Pullen was the beloved husband of Dawn; the | ||||||
13 | loving father of Brittany and Brendan Pullen; the devoted son | ||||||
14 | of Robert and Mary Kay Pullen; the dear brother of Jim (Kim) | ||||||
15 | Pullen, Sharon Varco, Jack Pullen, and Mike (Lisa) Pullen; the | ||||||
16 | fond brother-in-law of Keith (Mary) Amendola, Craig (Diane) | ||||||
17 | Amendola, and Krista (Dan Fagan) Amendola; and the adored uncle | ||||||
18 | of 18 wonderful nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
21 | his family and friends, the passing of Robert W. "Rob" Pullen; | ||||||
22 | and be it further
