|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of
Marian Allene Goza, who passed away on |
4 | | May 4, 2012; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Marian Goza was born on December 25, 1930, in |
6 | | Springfield; her parents were John B. and Clara (Rodgers) |
7 | | Ritchie; she married Robert W. Goza in 1952; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Marian Goza attended Enos Elementary School and |
9 | | graduated from Springfield High School and Springfield College |
10 | | in Illinois; she then attended Lincoln University in Jefferson |
11 | | City, Missouri, where she met her future husband; she later |
12 | | earned her bachelor's degree in chemistry from Sangamon State |
13 | | University; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Marian Goza was employed as a registered medical |
15 | | technologist at Memorial Medical Center for 39 years; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Marian Goza was a member of St. Paul AME Church, |
17 | | where she served on the Trustee Board and the Estella Thompson |
18 | | Missionary Society, and sang as a choir helper; she was active |
19 | | in the Land of Lincoln Girl Scout Council for many years and |
20 | | served as a Girl Scout leader and cookie chairman; she |
21 | | participated in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at both |

1 | | the local and State levels; as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha |
2 | | Sorority, Inc., she worked on various committees and served as |
3 | | President of the local chapter and held a regional office; she |
4 | | was a member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority and the Springfield |
5 | | Branch NAACP and served as Secretary for the Kenneth E. Barton, |
6 | | Sr. Scholarship Fund; she also served as Vice-President, |
7 | | Financial Secretary, Treasurer, and Secretary as well as the |
8 | | 1st Illinois Connections Coordinator on the regional level for |
9 | | several years and took a special interest in her neighborhood |
10 | | association; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, Marian Goza was an accomplished seamstress who |
12 | | made many wedding gowns and debutante dresses; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Marian Goza was preceded in death by her husband |
14 | | of over 59 years, Robert; her parents; and her brother, John R. |
15 | | Ritchie; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Marian Goza is survived by her children, Cheryl |
17 | | Goza Smith, Michael (Cindi), Roger (Linda), and Jeanette H. |
18 | | Goza; her grandchildren, Alexander C. Goza, Marian T. Smith, |
19 | | and William A. Ferguson; her step-granddaughter, Heather |
20 | | Navarro; her great-grandsons, Jeremiah and Jaden Ferguson; her |
21 | | step-grandchildren, Skie, Rainne, and Croix; her |
22 | | brother-in-law; her 3 sisters-in-law; and her many cousins and |
23 | | friends; therefore, be it

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
3 | | her family and friends, the passing of Marian Allene Goza; and |
4 | | be it further
|
5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
6 | | presented to the family of Marian Goza as an expression of our |
7 | | sympathy.
