SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Michael J. Chiaventone of Herrin, who passed away on March 7, 2012; and

WHEREAS, He was born October 1, 1953, in Herrin to James F. and Delene J. (Marlow) Chiaventone; he married Jetta Rae Elston on June 5, 1976, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin; and

WHEREAS, He was a registered pharmacist who graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 1976; he owned and operated Moroni Drugs Inc. in Herrin for 30 years and most recently worked as a pharmacist at Walgreens in Herrin; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the Illinois Pharmacists Association, the Herrin Elks, and the Herrin Knights of Columbus; in his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his friends at Pigeon Inn, golfing, attending SIU basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, and horse racing at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his mother, Delene; and his grandparents, Joseph and Florence Chiaventone and Emma and Charles Marlow; and

WHEREAS, Michael Chiaventone is survived by his wife, Jetta Chiaventone; his daughters, Kelley Chiaventone Dacus and husband, Keith, and Leslie Chiaventone; his grandchildren, Annemarie and Clayton Michael Dacus; his father, James Chiaventone; his brother, Pat Chiaventone and wife, Carmen; his brother, Russell Chiaventone and wife, Judy; his father-in-law, George Elston; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as numerous close friends and colleagues; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Michael Chiaventone; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael Chiaventone as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
