1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Richard "Dick" Jaeger of Geneva, who |
4 | | passed away on January 24, 2012; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Geneva Illinois, he was |
6 | | educated at St. Patrick's grade school (St. Charles) and |
7 | | Marmion Military Academy; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, As a young man he sang tenor in a barbershop |
9 | | quartet with his father and his 2 brothers; after service in |
10 | | the Army Air Force during World War II, he graduated from Loras |
11 | | College in Dubuque, Iowa, where he met and married his wife of |
12 | | 62 years, Norma; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, He was the Sales Manager of the Elmhurst Chicago |
14 | | Stone Company for 35 years and was past President of the |
15 | | Illinois Ready Mixed Concrete Association; and |
16 | | WHEREAS, He was tireless in his involvement in his |
17 | | community and church, chiefly as a fundraiser; he was elected |
18 | | to the Geneva School Board and served on the Geneva History |
19 | | Center Board; he was a communicant of the old and new St. Peter |
20 | | Church in Geneva where he taught religious education for 17 |
21 | | years; his love for his church was evidenced by countless hours |

1 | | of service to St. Peter's; he was thrilled to have attended a |
2 | | Papal Mass in Rome with his wife and daughters; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, He used his woodworking skills, first creating |
4 | | Christmas ornaments depicting historic buildings of Geneva |
5 | | that he and Norma used to help raise funds for the Geneva |
6 | | History Center and then began building model replicas of the |
7 | | buildings; these award-winning pieces of folk art, on display |
8 | | at the Geneva History Center, are a reminder of his affection |
9 | | for his hometown; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, An avid sport fisherman, he traveled all over |
11 | | North America, as recently as this past summer, with his sons |
12 | | and close friends; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his son, Steven; his |
14 | | parents, Justin and Blanche; his brother, Jack; and his |
15 | | sisters, Bette Koehler, Ann Cantrall, and Judy; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Richard Jaeger is survived by his wife, Norma; his |
17 | | children, Richard II, Sue (David Mitchell), J. Patrick (Julie), |
18 | | Nan (Richard Manning), Beth, Paula (Paul Pikowitz), and David |
19 | | (Theresa); his grandchildren, Ryan, Ashley, and Richard Jaeger |
20 | | III, Christopher, David, and Stephanie Mitchell, Madeline and |
21 | | Corinne Manning, and Grace Jaeger; his brother, Gene |
22 | | (Florence); his sister, Mary; and his sister-in-law Eleanor; |

2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
3 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
4 | | his family and friends, the passing of Richard Jaeger; and be |
5 | | it further
|
6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Richard Jaeger as a symbol of our |
8 | | sincere sympathy.
