SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Wilbur J. Kienstra of Alton, who passed
4away on December 11, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born July 31, 1918, in Alton, the son of
6Joseph C. and Myrtle (Trampe) Kienstra; in 1916, his father,
7Joseph, founded Kienstra Brothers Coal, Feed, and Ice Company;
8in high school he delivered coal after classes; in 1940, he
9joined his father in business and subsequently transformed the
10company into a successful ready-mix and concrete block
11enterprise; he retired as president and CEO of Kienstra, Inc.
12in Wood River in 1986; and
 
13    WHEREAS, He married Ruth L. Hoehn on August 13, 1941, in
14Mitchell; he was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in
15Alton; and
 
16    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Wilbur Kienstra is survived by his daughter, Ann
18Rita Cooper and her husband, Tim; his sons, Chris Kienstra and
19Dr. Randy Kienstra and his wife, Jan; his grandchildren, Dr.
20Matthew Kienstra (Kristie), Christopher McNeill (Alisa), Dr.
21Andrew Kienstra (Kirsten), Carrie O'Brien (Chris), Ryan Munro

1(Tory), Cam Pope (Jason), and Mady Kienstra; his 13
2great-grandchildren; and his sister; Kathleen Kienstra;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
6his family and friends, the passing of Wilbur Kienstra; and be
7it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Wilbur Kienstra as a symbol of our
10sincere sympathy.
