2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Kenneth C. Edelen of Alton, who passed |
4 | | away on November 15, 2011; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, He was born on June 1, 1928, in Alton, son of |
6 | | James L. and Anna (Golden) Edelen; he married the former |
7 | | Margaret "Jeanette" Johnson on September 11, 1953, in |
8 | | Mississippi; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, He worked at Granite City Steel for 37 years, |
10 | | retiring in 1993; he served in the United States military for 7 |
11 | | years, 3 years in the Army and 4 years in the Navy during the |
12 | | Korean Conflict; he was a member of the Alton Eagles FOE 254 |
13 | | and Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, He loved gardening, reading, going for long walks, |
15 | | working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, cooking, being of help to |
16 | | anyone in need and most of all, spending time with his kids and |
17 | | grandkids; thanks to the constant help he gave to his |
18 | | daughters, he became an accomplished plumber, electrician, |
19 | | carpenter, painter, and most importantly, father and |
20 | | grandfather; he enjoyed taking day trips to St. Luke's with his |
21 | | wife and visiting the shops and restaurants in Chesterfield, |
22 | | Missouri; and
