SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Allan Morris Pickus, formerly of 
4Waukegan, who passed away on August 16, 2011; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, He was a University of Illinois graduate in 
6architecture and co-owner of Pickus Construction and Equipment 
7Company from 1963 until his retirement in 1996; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, He was active in the local construction industry, 
9serving as President of the Lake County Contractors 
10Association, Chairman of the Mid-America Regional Bargaining 
11Association, Chairman of the Waukegan Zoning Board, and 
12President of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, In retirement, he and his wife were very 
14passionate about their volunteer work at the Chicago Botanic 
15Garden and The Living Desert of Palm Desert, California; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Louie; his 
17mother, Lillian; and his brother, Edward; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Allan Pickus is survived by his wife, Meline; his 
19children, Jeffry, James, Joel, and Louis (Sara); his brother, 
20Nathan (Jane); his sister, Tamara (Marc); and his

1grandchildren, Jordan, Max, Sam, Danielle, Madeleine, Rachel, 
2Wynne, Jack, Charlie, Honor, and Henry; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
5his family and friends, the passing of Allan Pickus; and be it 
6further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Allan Pickus as a symbol of our 
9sincere sympathy.
