| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Rosemary DeBartolo, who passed away on |
| 4 | | October 23, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo was born May 8, 1924, in |
| 6 | | Joliet; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo graduated valedictorian of her |
| 8 | | class from St. Francis Academy in Joliet and summa cum laude |
| 9 | | and valedictorian of her class from St. Mary's College in South |
| 10 | | Bend, Indiana; after graduation, she taught in Batavia until |
| 11 | | her marriage; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo volunteered her time at |
| 13 | | Provena Mercy Hospital; she also served as a substitute teacher |
| 14 | | at Holy Angels Grade School; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo modeled at many charity |
| 16 | | events; she won the prize as "Best Model in the Show" at the |
| 17 | | 4th Annual Woman's Auxiliary of Grant Hospital in Chicago, |
| 18 | | representing St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Aurora; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo was an active member of Holy |
| 20 | | Angels Church since 1946; she was a member of the St. Anne's |
|

| 1 | | Society of Holy Angels Church and served as General Chairman |
| 2 | | for numerous functions; she was an active participant in her |
| 3 | | community, with memberships in the Aurora Chapter of the |
| 4 | | Alumnae of St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana, the Kane |
| 5 | | County Medical Society Auxiliary, the St. Joseph Hospital |
| 6 | | Auxiliary, and the Marmion Mother's Club; she was also a former |
| 7 | | chairman of the Mercy Ball and a member of the Aurora Country |
| 8 | | Club; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo enjoyed playing bridge, |
| 10 | | gardening, spending time with her family and friends, studying |
| 11 | | the stock market, cooking, reading, and traveling with her |
| 12 | | husband; she was also an avid Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and |
| 13 | | Notre Dame fan; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo was preceded in death by her |
| 15 | | loving husband, Dr. Hansel DeBartolo Sr.; her parents, Atty P. |
| 16 | | Francis and Fanne C. Boetto; and her brother, Atty Dominic |
| 17 | | Boetto; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo is survived by her children, |
| 19 | | Dr. Hansel (Susan) DeBartolo Jr., Michele DeBartolo, and Dr. |
| 20 | | Daniel DeBartolo; and her grandchildren, Dr. Dore, Hansel III, |
| 21 | | Dr. Merrit (Shanila), Janae, Raquel, Daniel, Joseph, Edward |
| 22 | | "Teddy", and Gia; therefore, be it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
| 2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 3 | | her family and friends, the passing of Rosemary DeBartolo; and |
| 4 | | be it further
|
| 5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 6 | | presented to the family of Rosemary DeBartolo as an expression |
| 7 | | of our sympathy.
