2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Margaret Pauline "Marge" Gregorin, |
4 | | formerly of Beach Park and North Chicago, who passed away on |
5 | | August 11, 2011; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Margaret Gregorin was born on May 10, 1921, in |
7 | | North Chicago; her parents were Ignatz and Josephine (Krasovec) |
8 | | Gerze; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Margaret Gregorin was a longtime member of Mother |
10 | | of God Catholic Church, and later St. Dismas Catholic Church; |
11 | | and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Margaret Gregorin was formally educated to the age |
13 | | of 16; as a teenager, she worked as a housekeeper in homes on |
14 | | the North Shore; as a young woman, she operated machines at the |
15 | | National Envelope Factory in North Chicago until May 18, 1946, |
16 | | when she married her husband of 51 years, Stanley Gregorin; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Margaret Gregorin was an avid golfer and played on |
18 | | women's softball teams during World War II; as a lifelong |
19 | | member of the Slovene National Benefit Society, she played on |
20 | | championship balina teams, and participated in several local |
21 | | and national championship bowling leagues in Waukegan and |

1 | | across the Midwest; she also loved playing cards with her lady |
2 | | friends; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Margaret Gregorin was a skilled seamstress and |
4 | | knitter, creating baby clothes that are worn today by her |
5 | | great-granddaughter; she also shined in the kitchen and was |
6 | | known for her excellent potica and blueberry cream pie; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Margaret Gregorin was preceded in death by her |
8 | | husband; their infant son, Thomas Gregorin; her parents; her |
9 | | siblings, Mary Gerzel, Josephine (Stanley) Schuster, Thomas |
10 | | (Betty) Gerzel, John (Dolly) Gerzel, Ignace (Frances) Gerzel, |
11 | | Frances (Leon) Pryblyski, Jena (Anthony) Bukantis, and |
12 | | Gertrude (Albert) Kobel; and her nephews, Maureen Cartwright, |
13 | | Richard Gerzel, and Michael Bukantis; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Margaret Gregorin is survived by her children, |
15 | | Linda (Keith) Clifford, Thomas S. (Marilyn) Gregorin, and Terry |
16 | | Gregorin; her grandchildren, Meghan Clifford, Colleen |
17 | | Clifford, Carli Gregorin, Eric Gregorin, Brad Gregorin, Aimee |
18 | | Gregorin, and Brian Gregorin; her great-granddaughter, Isla |
19 | | Apollonia Davidson; her sister, Elizabeth (Anton) Keber; her |
20 | | sister-in-law, Millie (Raymond) Kaczmaryn; and her many nieces |
21 | | and nephews; therefore, be it
