SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3learn of the death of
Donald F. Hill of Bloomington, who passed 
4away on September 3, 2011; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Hill was born on December 30, 1925, in 
6Greenup; he was the son of Bethel and Sattie Freeman Hill; he 
7married Shirley M. Middlesworth on June 30, 1951, at the 
8Methodist Church in Charleston; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Donald Hill was a graduate of Eastern Illinois 
10University High School, Eastern Illinois University, and the 
11Illinois College of Law in Springfield; he served in the United 
12States Navy during World War II; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Donald Hill joined the State Farm Mutual Auto 
14Insurance Company as a field claim representative in 1951; he 
15retired from State Farm in 1990 after 38 years of service; 
16during his career, he held a number of positions in the claims 
17operation of State Farm's Illinois regional operation and 
18worked as a legislative liaison with the Illinois legislature; 
19and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, After retiring from State Farm, Donald Hill became 
21active in Faith in Action and the Victim Offender

1Reconciliation Program as a mediator; he was also a member of 
2the Illinois Bar Association, Wesley United Methodist Church of 
3Bloomington, and the Bloomington Exchange Club; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Donald Hill enjoyed golf, fishing, card games of 
5all types, traveling with his family, and attending and 
6watching a wide variety of sporting events, particularly when 
7his children or grandchildren were involved; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Donald Hill was preceded in death by a brother, 
9William Hill, and a daughter-in-law, Sally Hill; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Donald Hill is survived by his wife, Shirley; his 
11sons, David Hill and Brian "Buzz" (Barbie) Hill; his daughter, 
12Susan (Kelly) Davidson; his grandchildren, Katherine Jean 
13(Dalan) Thornton, Brian William Hill, Kylie Ellen (Brad) 
14McKlveen, Peter Freeman Hill, Allison Cates Davidson, and Sara 
15Beth Davidson; his two great-grandchildren; his sisters, 
16Kathryn Luedke and Caroline (Phil) Hadley; and his brother, 
17LaVerle Hill; therefore, be it
  
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL 
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
20his family and friends, the passing of Donald F. Hill; and be 
21it further

2presented to the family of Donald F. Hill as an expression of 
3our sympathy.
