2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of
David L. Perry of Oak Park, who passed |
4 | | away on September 11, 2011; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, David Perry was born on October 6, 1947, in |
6 | | Hastings, Michigan; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, David Perry earned his bachelor's degree in |
8 | | health, physical education, and recreation in 1969 from Western |
9 | | Michigan University; he subsequently earned his master's |
10 | | degree in recreation administration from George Williams |
11 | | College in 1971; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, David Perry taught and coached swimming and water |
13 | | polo at Mt. Carmel High School from 1979 to 1987 and at Fenwick |
14 | | High School from 1987 to 2011; at Fenwick, he co-coached the |
15 | | swim team to three IHSA state championships and earned second |
16 | | place once and third place twice; he coached the first IHSA |
17 | | state water polo champions in 2002 and won eight of the last |
18 | | nine state championships; his water polo coaching record over |
19 | | his 31-year career is 793-143-2; he also coached over 60 |
20 | | all-American swimmers, 75 all-American water polo players, and |
21 | | 30 NISCA All-Academic Athletes; and

1 | | WHEREAS, David Perry was the recipient of the Tony Lawless |
2 | | Water Polo Coach of the Year award, Chicago Catholic League and |
3 | | Metro Aquatics Conference, 13 times; he also received the Tony |
4 | | Lawless Swimming Coach of the Year award, Chicago Catholic |
5 | | League and Metro Aquatic Conference, nine times; he was |
6 | | inducted into the Illinois Water Polo Hall of Fame in 2002, the |
7 | | I.S.A. Hall of Fame in 2004, and the Chicago Catholic League |
8 | | Hall of Fame in 2011; and

9 | | WHEREAS, David Perry was the loving husband of Marianne |
10 | | (nee Mensik) for 35 years; he was also the father of Kyle |
11 | | (Courtney) and Elizabeth (fiance, Matthew Timmons) Perry; the |
12 | | brother of Lynila Jo Perry and brother-in-law of Janet (Robert) |
13 | | Dews and the late Judy (William) Dolehide; the uncle of William |
14 | | (Teresa) Dolehide, Christopher Hamilton, Andrew (Gayle) |
15 | | Hamilton, Dana (Jeff) Prasek, Karen Hamilton, and Jason Dews; |
16 | | the great-uncle and great-great-uncle and cousin of many; the |
17 | | son of the late Lynn and Cay Perry; and the son-in-law of |
18 | | Antoinette and the late Richard Mensik; therefore, be it

19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
21 | | his family and friends, the passing of David L. Perry; and be |
22 | | it further
