SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Paul Maca, who passed away on July 29,
42011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Paul Maca was born in 1931, in Chicago; he was
6raised in Hinsdale, where he graduated from Hinsdale Central
7High School with the class of 1949; he subsequently earned his
8bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of
9Arizona, where he was also a member and president of the Delta
10Sigma Phi fraternity; and
 
11    WHEREAS, After serving his country with pride and
12distinction in the Air Force, Paul Maca returned to Western
13Springs in 1958, where he lived with his family until May of
142011; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Paul Maca retired as president of Sommer and Maca
16Industries in 1986; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Paul Maca was an enthusiastic volunteer in his
18community and his church; he served as chairman of the Robert
19Crown Health Education Center, member of the board of directors
20and chairman of Harris Bank Hinsdale, board member of the
21Wellness House, moderator at the First Congregational Church of

1Western Springs, member of the Western Springs Community Center
2Association Board, and president of the Hinsdale Golf Club; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Paul Maca enjoyed summers at the lake, winter
4vacations to Mexico and Tucson, Arizona, and traveling around
5the world with his wife; he also loved the game of golf, the
6Chicago Cubs and Bears, dry martinis, and spending time with
7his family and friends; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Paul Maca is survived by his college sweetheart
9and devoted wife of 57 years, Gail; his daughters, Katherine
10(Casey) Mangan, Marjorie (James) Surpless, and Sarah Maca (Alex
11Alimanestianu); his grandchildren, Mallory, Trey, Patrick,
12Charlotte, Eric, and Henry; his brother, Allan Leigh Maca; his
13nephew, Allan; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joan
14and Doug Weart, and their children; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17his family and friends, the passing of Paul Maca; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Paul Maca as an expression of our
21sympathy.
