2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of
Paul Maca, who passed away on July 29, |
4 | | 2011; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Paul Maca was born in 1931, in Chicago; he was |
6 | | raised in Hinsdale, where he graduated from Hinsdale Central |
7 | | High School with the class of 1949; he subsequently earned his |
8 | | bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of |
9 | | Arizona, where he was also a member and president of the Delta |
10 | | Sigma Phi fraternity; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, After serving his country with pride and |
12 | | distinction in the Air Force, Paul Maca returned to Western |
13 | | Springs in 1958, where he lived with his family until May of |
14 | | 2011; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Paul Maca retired as president of Sommer and Maca |
16 | | Industries in 1986; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Paul Maca was an enthusiastic volunteer in his |
18 | | community and his church; he served as chairman of the Robert |
19 | | Crown Health Education Center, member of the board of directors |
20 | | and chairman of Harris Bank Hinsdale, board member of the |
21 | | Wellness House, moderator at the First Congregational Church of |

1 | | Western Springs, member of the Western Springs Community Center |
2 | | Association Board, and president of the Hinsdale Golf Club; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Paul Maca enjoyed summers at the lake, winter |
4 | | vacations to Mexico and Tucson, Arizona, and traveling around |
5 | | the world with his wife; he also loved the game of golf, the |
6 | | Chicago Cubs and Bears, dry martinis, and spending time with |
7 | | his family and friends; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Paul Maca is survived by his college sweetheart |
9 | | and devoted wife of 57 years, Gail; his daughters, Katherine |
10 | | (Casey) Mangan, Marjorie (James) Surpless, and Sarah Maca (Alex |
11 | | Alimanestianu); his grandchildren, Mallory, Trey, Patrick, |
12 | | Charlotte, Eric, and Henry; his brother, Allan Leigh Maca; his |
13 | | nephew, Allan; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joan |
14 | | and Doug Weart, and their children; therefore, be it

15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
17 | | his family and friends, the passing of Paul Maca; and be it |
18 | | further
|
19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Paul Maca as an expression of our |
21 | | sympathy.
