SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Assaf "Tony" Trad Sr. of East Peoria, who
4passed away on July 30, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born February 17, 1921, in Itoo, Lebanon,
6to Antonios Khair Trad and Martha Slyman; he married Dalal
7Younes on February 10, 1941, in Itoo; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He was a member of the Itoo Society of Peoria; he
9was a member of St. Sharbel Maronite Church in Peoria and an
10avid supporter and volunteer at the St. Sharbel Church and Food
11Festivals; his passion was farming his land in Lebanon, and he
12was a co-owner of a furniture store in Venezuela, South
13America, before he moved to the United States in 1979; and
 
14    WHEREAS, He was the co-founder of Aleece's Pita Chips, and
15worked at Anthony's Tavern and Fon Du Lac Park District; while
16living in the United States, he went to each of his children's
17homes to plant gardens; he used his hands and skills to teach
18his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of
19his life, the art of gardening; and
 
20    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife;
21his sisters, Wardiah Younes and Jamela Trad; his daughter,

1Marie Trad; his grandchildren, Cedra and Anthony Trad; and his
2sons-in-law, Charles Anthony and Yousef Younes; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Assaf "Tony" Trad Sr. is survived by his sons and
4daughters, Alice (the late Charles Anthony), Tony (Loba) Trad,
5Leila (Abdullah Haifa), Pierre (Catherine) Trad, and Siham (the
6late Yousef Younes); his 14 grandchildren; and his 21
7great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10his family and friends, the passing of Assaf "Tony" Trad Sr.;
11and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Assaf "Tony" Trad Sr. as a symbol of
14our sincere sympathy.
