SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rebecca Elizabeth Kanohokela Kahooluhi Patton, who passed away on May 20, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Rebecca Elizabeth Kanohokela Kahooluhi Patton was born December 1, 1923 in Hawaii to Phillip and Maria Kahooluhiof Hawaii; and

WHEREAS, She was employed at Pearl Harbor during World War II and was the Lei Day Queen of Pearl Harbor in 1944; she worked at Great Lakes when she came over to the main land after World War II; and

WHEREAS, She retired from the Lake County Courthouse Management Services Department after 32 years of service; she was an active volunteer and supporter of the Lake County Forest Preserve, the Lake County Council for Seniors, Immaculate Conception Church Rummage Sales, the Senior Circle, St. Therese Hospital, the Waukegan Symphony Concert Call, the Waukegan-North Chicago Senior Citizens Club, and Women of the Moose; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, John Patton; her daughter, Ann Patton; and her parents, Phillip and Maria Kahooluhi; and

WHEREAS, Rebecca Elizabeth Kanohokela Kahooluhi Patton is survived by her faithful companion, Lili; her special friends, Doug and Gloria Camarato; her God-children, Karen Swain, Meg Zirkelbach, Jim Lutter, and Jeff Pierce; her nieces and nephews, Jacqui (Dom) Sacramento, Janet (Ron) Clift, Al (Sara) Hancock, Mary O'Flaherty, Kelly (Dan) Howes, and Patrick O'Flaherty; and many friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Rebecca Elizabeth Kanohokela Kahooluhi Patton; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rebecca Elizabeth Kanohokela Kahooluhi Patton as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
