SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Barry Lakin of Carlinville, who passed
4away on May 23, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born April 22, 1941 in Granite City, the
6son of David and Anna (Scott) Lakin; he married Donna C.
7Karrick in Carlinville on February 14, 1981; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He graduated from Mt. Olive High School with the
9class of 1959; he worked for the State of Illinois in the
10Secretary of State division in Springfield; he accepted the
11position of drivers license examiner and was transferred to the
12Carlinville office; and he retired in January of 2011; and
 
13    WHEREAS, He was a member of the Carlinville Moose Club and
14Masonic Lodge; he served as the Macoupin County Republican
15Central Committee Chairman until March of 2010; he loved to
16garden, tinker on small engines and lawn mowers, and was a
17great story teller; he cherished his dog "Izzie"; and
 
18    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife; and his
19grandchildren, Jeremiah Costello, Jamie Lynn Neely, Nathan
20Rettig, and Mandy Lee Eddleman; and

1    WHEREAS, Barry Lakin is survived by his son, Stephen
2(Teresa) Springman; his daughter, Katheryn (Kenneth) Stroup;
3his daughter, Carol Ann (Dan) Dawning; his daughter, Deborah
4Lynn (Kirk) Lockwood; his daughter, Lisa Gay (Russell) Jones;
5his son, Michael James (Shirley) Springman; his son, Vernon
6Springman; and his daughter, Carrie L. Lakin-Rhodes (Randy
7Foster); his brother, Jerry Lakin (Donna Carol); his brother,
8Tracy Lakin; his sister, Yevon Mathis (Brandon); his sister,
9Mary Hamby; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12his family and friends, the passing of Barry Lakin; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Barry Lakin as a symbol of our
16sincere sympathy.
