2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Walter Turner Edwards, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | November 14, 2010; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Walter Edwards was born on November 11, 1931, in | ||||||
6 | Waukegan; his parents were Walter P. Edwards and Mattie Turner | ||||||
7 | Edwards; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Walter Edwards served his country with pride and | ||||||
9 | distinction as a member of the United States Navy during the | ||||||
10 | Korean War; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Walter Edwards attended Waukegan public schools; | ||||||
12 | he subsequently earned his degree in business administration | ||||||
13 | from Carthage College; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Walter Edwards retired as Director of Finance and | ||||||
15 | Treasurer of the Waukegan School District in 1996 after many | ||||||
16 | years of service; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Walter Edwards was a member of the First United | ||||||
18 | Methodist Church in Waukegan, AARP Chapter 150, the Waukegan | ||||||
19 | Little Fort Lions Club, and the American Legion; he was also | ||||||
20 | involved in the annual crop walk; and

1 | WHEREAS, Walter Edwards was preceded in death by his | ||||||
2 | parents and his brothers-in-law, Lloyd Coad and William Bald; | ||||||
3 | and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Walter Edwards is survived by his wife, Betty; his | ||||||
5 | daughters, Carolyn (David) Stover and Andrea (Patrick) | ||||||
6 | Pekkarinen; his grandchildren, Kate and Kevin Pekkarinen and | ||||||
7 | Melissa Stover; his sister, Barbara (Everette) Coad/Johnson; | ||||||
8 | his brother-in-law, Robert Jordan; his sister-in-law, Alice | ||||||
9 | Bald; his nephews, Daryl and Dan Coad; his niece, Susie Brown; | ||||||
10 | and his many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors; | ||||||
11 | therefore, be it

12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
14 | his family and friends, the passing of Walter Turner Edwards; | ||||||
15 | and be it further

16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
17 | presented to the family of Walter Edwards as an expression of | ||||||
18 | our sympathy.
