| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 18-3 as follows:

| 7 | | Sec. 18-3. Vehicular hijacking.
|
| 8 | | (a) A person commits vehicular hijacking when he or she |
| 9 | | takes a motor
vehicle from the
the person or the immediate |

force or by threatening the |
| 11 | | imminent use of force. |
| 12 | | (b) For the purposes of this Article, the term "motor |
| 13 | | vehicle" shall have
the meaning ascribed to it in the Illinois |
| 14 | | Vehicle Code.

| 15 | | (c) Sentence. Vehicular hijacking is a Class 1 felony.
