Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Changes definition of "rescue vehicle" to include vehicles used for the emergency treatment of persons who are sick, injured, wounded or otherwise incapacitated or helpless. Effective immediately.

| 1 | | AN ACT concerning transportation.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 1-171.8 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (625 ILCS 5/1-171.8) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-224)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 1-171.8. Rescue vehicle. Any publicly or privately |
| 8 | | owned vehicle
which is specifically designed, configured, and |
| 9 | | equipped for the performance
of access and extrication of |
| 10 | | persons from hazardous or life-endangering
situations, as well |
| 11 | | as for the emergency transportation or treatment of persons who |
| 12 | | are
sick, injured, wounded or otherwise incapacitated or |
| 13 | | helpless.
