2 | | (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of an application made in |
3 | | the form prescribed by the Secretary of State, may issue |
4 | | special registration plates designated as Illinois State |
5 | | Police Memorial Park license plates. The special plates issued |
6 | | under this Section shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles |
7 | | of the first division or motor vehicles of the second division |
8 | | weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued under this |
9 | | Section shall expire according to the multi-year procedure |
10 | | established by Section 3-414.1 of this Code.

11 | | (b) The design and color of the plates shall be wholly |
12 | | within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The Secretary |
13 | | may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be issued as |
14 | | vanity or personalized plates in accordance with Section |
15 | | 3-405.1 of this Code. The Secretary shall prescribe stickers or |
16 | | decals as provided under Section 3-412 of this Code. |
17 | | (c) An applicant shall be charged a $25 fee for original |
18 | | issuance in addition to the appropriate registration fee, if |
19 | | applicable. Of this fee, $10 shall be deposited into the |
20 | | Illinois State Police Memorial Park Fund and $15 shall be |
21 | | deposited into the Secretary of State Special License Plate |
22 | | Fund. For each registration renewal period, a $25 fee, in |
23 | | addition to the appropriate registration fee, shall be charged. |
24 | | Of this fee, $23 shall be deposited into the Illinois State |
25 | | Police Memorial Park Fund and $2 shall be deposited into the |
26 | | Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund. |

1 | | (d) The Illinois State Police Memorial Park Fund is created |

the State treasury. All moneys in the |
3 | | Illinois State Police Memorial Park Fund shall be

5 | | Secretary, as grants to the Illinois State Police Heritage |
6 | | Foundation, Inc. for building and maintaining a memorial and |
7 | | park, holding an annual memorial commemoration, giving |
8 | | scholarships to children of State police officers killed or |
9 | | catastrophically injured in the line of duty, and providing |
10 | | financial assistance to police officers and their families when |
11 | | a police officer is killed or injured in the line of duty. ".
