2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Vickie L. |
4 | | (Schnake) Niederhofer of Hoyleton, who passed away on September |
5 | | 4, 2012; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Vickie Niederhofer was born on July 6, 1954, to |
7 | | Richard and Imogene (Bierman) Schnake; she graduated from |
8 | | Centralia High School in 1972 and attained a registered nursing |
9 | | degree from Kaskaskia College in 1974; she married Joe |
10 | | Niederhofer in 1975; she obtained a bachelor of science degree |
11 | | in nursing from McKendree College in 1994; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Vickie Niederhofer worked as a Cottage Nurse at |
13 | | Murray's Children Center from 1974 to 1985; she became Unit |
14 | | Director and eventually Murray Center Director for 5 years; she |
15 | | was Murray Center Administrator from 1985-1993, Residential |
16 | | Services Director from 1993-2000, and Facility Director from |
17 | | 2000-2004; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Vickie Niederhofer attended Zion United Church of |
19 | | Christ in Hoyleton; she was secretary of the Washington County |
20 | | Food Pantry and loved spending time with her family and |
21 | | friends; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Vickie Niederhofer was well-respected for her |
2 | | outspoken advocacy and knowledge of Murray Center and the needs |
3 | | of its residents; she was a tireless fighter to keep Murray |
4 | | Center open and spearheaded efforts to build a coalition of |
5 | | parents, employees, and community leaders for that cause; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Vicki Niederhofer will be remembered for her |
7 | | endless compassion and care for those who resided at Murray |
8 | | Center and their family and for the compassionate treatment for |
9 | | those suffering from mental illness across the State; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Vickie Niederhofer is survived by her sons, Travis |
11 | | Niederhofer (Stephanie House) and Adam Niederhofer (Ayla |
12 | | Thorp); her brother, Randy Schnake (Angela); her nephews, Lucus |
13 | | Schnake and Derrick Schnake; her niece, Abby Schnake; and many |
14 | | aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it
|
15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
16 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
17 | | we mourn the passing of Vickie Niederhofer, and we extend our |
18 | | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew |
19 | | and loved her; and be it further

20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
21 | | presented to the family of Vickie Niederhofer as an expression |
22 | | of our deepest sympathy.
