| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to honor Gary L. Clayton on
his 25 |
| 4 | | years of dedicated service as the chief executive officer of |
| 5 | | the Illinois Association of Realtor; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Gary L. Clayton is a native of Poplar Bluff, |
| 7 | | Missouri; he was born on December 8, 1948; his
parents are |
| 8 | | Howard (deceased) and Juanita Clayton; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Gary L. Clayton received his elementary and high |
| 10 | | school education in Poplar Bluff; he has an
undergraduate |
| 11 | | degree in political science from Southeast Missouri State |
| 12 | | University and a master's degree in
social justice |
| 13 | | administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield; |
| 14 | | and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Gary L. Clayton serves on the National Association |
| 16 | | of Realtors (NAR) board of directors
and is the association |
| 17 | | executive appointed to the NAR Executive Committee; he is vice |
| 18 | | chair of the Realtors
Property Resource Advisory Board and past |
| 19 | | chair of the NAR Association Executives Committee; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, In 2011, Gary L. Clayton was awarded the |
| 21 | | prestigious national William R. Magel Award of
Excellence, |
|

| 1 | | which honors an individual who has truly excelled in his or her |
| 2 | | role as an association executive of a local
or state Realtors |
| 3 | | association; and

| 4 | | WHEREAS, Gary L. Clayton holds the Certified Association |
| 5 | | Executive (CAE) designation from ASAE & The
Center for |
| 6 | | Association Leadership as well as the Realtor Association |
| 7 | | Certified Executive (RCE) designation
from the National |
| 8 | | Association of Realtors; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Before coming to IAR, Gary L. Clayton served for 8 |
| 10 | | years as director of the Illinois
Department of Registration |
| 11 | | and Education; prior to that, he was deputy director of the |
| 12 | | Illinois Department of Law
Enforcement's Internal |
| 13 | | Investigation Division and a postal inspector for the U.S. |
| 14 | | Postal Service in Chicago; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Through Gary L. Clayton's vision, leadership, and |
| 16 | | hard work, the Illinois Association of Realtors is one of the |
| 17 | | most highly respected organizations at the State capitol and is |
| 18 | | a trusted and consistent voice at the capitol on issues |
| 19 | | relating to property ownership, the real estate industry, and |
| 20 | | private property rights; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Gary L. Clayton has been married to his loving |
| 22 | | wife, Marcia, for 34 years and they are the proud
parents of |

| 1 | | Skip (wife Laurie), Bill (wife Sarah), Mark, and Jim and |
| 2 | | grandparents to Carly and Halle; therefore, be it

| 3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 4 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 5 | | we honor Gary L. Clayton for his stellar work as chief |
| 6 | | executive officer of
the Illinois Association of Realtors and |
| 7 | | wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be |
| 8 | | it further

| 9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
