2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Trooper |
4 | | Kyle W. Deatherage of Highland, who was killed in the line of |
5 | | duty on November 26, 2012; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage was born on April 11, |
7 | | 1980, in Maryville; his parents were Barry W. Sr. and April Kay |
8 | | (nee Karpowicz) Deatherage; he married his loving wife, Sarah, |
9 | | on September 16, 2006; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage moved with his family to |
11 | | St. Jacob in 1990 and graduated from Triad High School in 1998; |
12 | | he subsequently earned his associate's degree in criminal |
13 | | justice at Lewis and Clark College; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage began his career in law |
15 | | enforcement with the Staunton Police Department; he later |
16 | | worked for the Madison County Sheriff's Office from July 7, |
17 | | 2004 until May 28, 2009; on May 31, 2009, he became an Illinois |
18 | | State Trooper with District 18 and began serving as a motor |
19 | | officer; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage enjoyed fishing, hunting |
21 | | turkey, deer, and birds, spending time with his close friends |

1 | | and his fellow officers; he was known for always being willing |
2 | | to help; above all, he loved his children and his wife, Sarah; |
3 | | and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage was preceded in death by |
5 | | his paternal grandfather, Ralph M. Deatherage; and his maternal |
6 | | grandparents, Casmir and Rose Anna Karpowicz; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage is survived by his wife, |
8 | | Sarah A. (nee Gregory) Deatherage; his daughter, Kaylee Ann |
9 | | Deatherage; his son, Camden Kyle Deatherage; his father, Barry |
10 | | W. Deatherage Sr.; his mother, April Kay (nee Karpowicz) |
11 | | Deatherage; his brothers, Barry W. Deatherage Jr. and Kenneth |
12 | | M. (Ashleigh) Deatherage; his sister, Anna B. Deatherage; his |
13 | | paternal grandmother, Brooksie M. (nee South) Deatherage; and |
14 | | his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gean B. and Eleanor L. |
15 | | (nee Christin) Gregory; and |
16 | | WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage's courage will be |
17 | | remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow officers, |
18 | | and all who knew him; therefore, be it

19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
20 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
21 | | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of |
22 | | State Trooper Kyle Deatherage; and be it further
