2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Jean |
4 | | Joseph Salomon; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jean Salomon was born on June 11, 1933, in |
6 | | Coteaux, Haiti; his parents are Exant Joseph Salomon and Marie |
7 | | Cecilia Mazile; he married the love of his life, Irma Kernizan, |
8 | | on December 22, 1959; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Jean Salomon graduated from Toussaint Louveture, |
10 | | where he was an excellent student; he subsequently attended |
11 | | South-Western Publishing courses on bookkeeping and accounting |
12 | | and received his degree in mathematics and accounting; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, In 1971, Jean Salomon moved his family to Chicago, |
14 | | where he worked as an accountant and supervisor at Humphrey |
15 | | Leather Goods until his retirement in 1996; and |
16 | | WHEREAS, Jean Salomon had a strong passion for education, |
17 | | which inspired him to open a math and science academy; he later |
18 | | became the Director of Telecommunications in Haiti; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, Jean Salomon enjoyed spending time with his |
20 | | family, taking part in Freemason activities, politics, |

1 | | literature, and art; he also excelled at public speaking and |
2 | | debates and was a self-taught architect; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Jean Salomon was very proud of his Haitian |
4 | | heritage and was a strong voice in the Haitian community; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Jean Salomon was preceded in death by his parents; |
6 | | his sons, Alix and Jeanton; and his siblings, Hery Salomon and |
7 | | Marie Solange Theronier; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Jean Salomon is survived by his wife of 53 years, |
9 | | Irma; his children, Edgard, Diane, Betsy (Gerard), and |
10 | | Michaelle; his grandchildren, Katia, Kaylin, Kyra, Krysten, |
11 | | and Alix; his sister, Marie Lourdes; his brother-in-law and |
12 | | sisters-in-law, Joel and Martha Gue, Hector Vales, Marie Anne |
13 | | and her family, and Lucienne Kernizan and her family; and his |
14 | | many nieces, nephews, relatives, and close friends; therefore, |
15 | | be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
17 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
18 | | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of |
19 | | Jean Joseph Salomon; and be it further
