2 | WHEREAS, On October 15, 2012, the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus | ||||||
3 | will mark the beginning of the 30th Anniversary Season with a | ||||||
4 | celebration at the Center on Halsted; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, The Chicago Gay Men's Chorus has been an integral | ||||||
6 | part of Chicago's cultural and gay communities since 1983; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, 30 years later, the Chorus is still attracting | ||||||
8 | over 175 men and women of all ages, ethnicities, and sexual | ||||||
9 | orientations to perform; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, For the last 2 decades, CGMC have entertained | ||||||
11 | audiences across the continent with innovative musical | ||||||
12 | programming exploring everything from love to politics to the | ||||||
13 | sometimes fabulous, sometimes challenging world of being gay - | ||||||
14 | often all at the same time; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, The Chorus always has memorable performances | ||||||
16 | which have included original musical revues, 4 popular | ||||||
17 | productions celebrating the Sidetrack show tune experience, | ||||||
18 | full-length book musicals like The Wizard of Oz, The Mikado, | ||||||
19 | and H.M.S. Pinafore, and traditional choral concerts - all | ||||||
20 | punctuated with joyous irreverence; and |

1 | WHEREAS, CGMC has traveled extensively across North | ||||||
2 | America, representing Chicago in cities including Montreal, | ||||||
3 | New York, Los Angeles, and New Orleans; and | ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, By inviting choruses from across the United States | ||||||
5 | and Europe to sing with them here in Chicago, the Chorus has | ||||||
6 | hosted many talented musical groups; and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Recently, the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus was | ||||||
8 | induction into the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame; and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, With more than 150 singing members backed by a | ||||||
10 | small army of volunteers, the CGMC family covers a diverse | ||||||
11 | cross-section of the Chicago metropolitan area; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Under the visionary guidance and inspired | ||||||
13 | direction of Artistic Director Patrick Sinozich, the Chorus | ||||||
14 | delivers a distinctive brand of entertainment that keeps their | ||||||
15 | audience coming back again and again; and | ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Chicago Gay Men's Chorus members log thousands of | ||||||
17 | hours annually to accomplish an ambitious schedule of | ||||||
18 | performances, fund-raisers, and charitable appearances; | ||||||
19 | therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

1 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
2 | we congratulate the members of the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus on | ||||||
3 | the occasion of the group's 30th anniversary and wish them | ||||||
4 | continued success and happiness in the future; and be it | ||||||
5 | further

6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus as a symbol of our | ||||||
8 | esteem and respect.
