| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jean A. Kenol for | ||||||
| 4 | being named the Joliet Area Young Professionals 2012 Young | ||||||
| 5 | Professional of the Year; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The Young Professional of the Year award | ||||||
| 7 | recognizes a Joliet-area young professional and Chamber member | ||||||
| 8 | who has made outstanding contributions to their profession and | ||||||
| 9 | to the community during the early years of their career; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Jean Kenol grew up in Joliet and is a graduate | ||||||
| 11 | from the University of Notre Dame, where he completed the | ||||||
| 12 | American University Semester program on public policy in | ||||||
| 13 | Washington, D.C., while he clerked for Congressman Jerry Weller | ||||||
| 14 | of the 11th Congressional District of Illinois; after | ||||||
| 15 | graduating from the University of Notre Dame, he attended law | ||||||
| 16 | school at the University of Illinois on a full-tuition Lincoln | ||||||
| 17 | Scholarship; after graduation, he was admitted to practice law | ||||||
| 18 | in the State of Illinois and the United States District Court | ||||||
| 19 | Northern District of Illinois; during law school, he had the | ||||||
| 20 | honor of interning for the Honorable Ann C. Williams, United | ||||||
| 21 | States Court of Appeals, 7th Circuit; and
| ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Jean Kenol currently serves as an attorney with | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | the firm of Mahoney, Silverman, & Cross, LLC; his practice | ||||||
| 2 | areas include corporate and business law, real estate law, | ||||||
| 3 | zoning and land use, and local government law; he has an | ||||||
| 4 | attorney rating of BV by Martindale-Hubbell and was listed as a | ||||||
| 5 | "rising star" in the 2009 Illinois Super Lawyers & Rising Stars | ||||||
| 6 | magazine; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Jean Kenol is an active member of his community; | ||||||
| 8 | he served as the President of the Notre Dame Club of Joliet, | ||||||
| 9 | the Board of Directors for United Cerebral Palsy of Will | ||||||
| 10 | County, and the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry; | ||||||
| 11 | in 2008, he was appointed and served for 2 years as a | ||||||
| 12 | Commissioner of the Joliet Police and Fire Commission; he has | ||||||
| 13 | been an active member of the Young Lawyers Division Council for | ||||||
| 14 | the Illinois State Bar Association since May of 2007 and will | ||||||
| 15 | serve as its Chair in 2013; in June of 2012, he was appointed | ||||||
| 16 | to the Illinois State Bar Association's Board of Governors and | ||||||
| 17 | has been active with the Joliet Area Young Professionals since | ||||||
| 18 | its inception in May of 2003; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 20 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 21 | we congratulate Jean Kenol on being named the recipient of the | ||||||
| 22 | 2012 Young Professional of the Year and wish him continued | ||||||
| 23 | success and happiness in the future; and be it further
| ||||||
