2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Reid Sutton for | ||||||
4 | receiving the "2012 Rural Physician of Excellence Award" from | ||||||
5 | the Illinois Rural Health Association; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, After completing his residency at Michael Reese | ||||||
7 | Hospital in Chicago, Dr. Sutton began his service to rural | ||||||
8 | residents in Edgar County when he joined the staff at Paris | ||||||
9 | Community Hospital/Family Medical Center in 1977; and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Dr. Sutton's involvement in improving the health | ||||||
11 | care of those in his community has been far reaching; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Due to the expertise and knowledge Dr. Sutton has | ||||||
13 | developed over the years, he currently serves as the Medical | ||||||
14 | Director for the Special Care Unit and the Cardiac | ||||||
15 | Rehabilitation Unit and is the Chief of Medical Staff for | ||||||
16 | PCH/FMC; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, In order for local residents to have access to | ||||||
18 | non-emergency care on the weekends, Dr. Sutton serves as | ||||||
19 | collaborating physician to advanced practice nurses and a | ||||||
20 | supervising physician to physician assistants so that weekend | ||||||
21 | hours can be provided at a local care clinic; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Dr. Sutton is the only certified Medical Review | ||||||
2 | Officer in his community and works closely with area employers | ||||||
3 | to ensure the validity of their employee drug testing programs; | ||||||
4 | and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, The senior population in Edgar County is much | ||||||
6 | higher than the State and national averages; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Dr. Sutton has a special place in his heart for | ||||||
8 | the community's most vulnerable citizens by serving as medical | ||||||
9 | director at several local assisted living centers and nursing | ||||||
10 | homes and always making extra time to ensure the area's senior | ||||||
11 | residents get the utmost in quality care; and

12 | WHEREAS, Dr. Sutton also devotes many hours of service to | ||||||
13 | the Austin Home, a local home for developmentally disabled | ||||||
14 | adults; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Dr. Sutton provides health education to his | ||||||
16 | community; he is a frequent speaker at community forums, as | ||||||
17 | well as providing special expertise and moral support to local | ||||||
18 | caregiver groups on topics such as dementia and Alzheimer's | ||||||
19 | disease; therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

1 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
2 | we commend Dr. Sutton for his selfless service to his community | ||||||
3 | and the impact he has made on improving rural health over the | ||||||
4 | past 35 years; and be it further

5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to Dr. Sutton as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
