2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Ray |
4 | | Urbans; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Ray Urbans was born in 1914, in Biron, Wisconsin; |
6 | | in 1946, he moved with his wife and children to the Chicago |
7 | | area; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Ray Urbans was a high school teacher of geometry |
9 | | and college algebra; he also coached basketball and football; |
10 | | and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Ray Urbans was an active civic leader; he served |
12 | | as Trustee in Westchester for 20 years and as Mayor of the |
13 | | Village of Westchester for 4 years; he served on the |
14 | | Broadview-Westchester Water Commission for 30 years and on the |
15 | | Proviso Township Mental Health Commission for 17 years; as a |
16 | | youth advocate, he was one of the founders of Little League |
17 | | Baseball in Bellwood and Westchester; he also served on the |
18 | | York Township Senior Advisory Committee for 12 years; during |
19 | | his tenure, he was a driving force on the committee and was |
20 | | instrumental in scheduling guest speakers and special events |
21 | | for the senior citizens of York Township Senior Center; and
