HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the residents of 
4Glen Ellyn on the occasion of the village being named one of 
5the top 100 Best Places to Live in 2011 by Money Magazine; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Village of Glen Ellyn is located 23 miles west 
7of Chicago and is one of the area's premier suburbs; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Glen Ellyn is known as the Village of Volunteers 
9for its small-town charm and sense of civic pride; many 
10organizations, churches, and volunteer groups make up the 
11fabric of the community of 27,000 residents; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, In addition to its many local shops and 
13restaurants, Glen Ellyn is situated around beautiful Lake 
14Ellyn, once a renowned vacation destination, and features many 
15natural sights, including 29 parks, the Willowbrook Wildlife 
16Preserve, the Village Links Golf Course, and access to the 
17Illinois Prairie Path; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Glen Ellyn is well known for its excellent 
19educational opportunities, including Glenbard West High School 
20and Glenbard South High School, which rank among the best high 
21schools in the State, and the College of DuPage, one of the

1largest community college campuses in the United
States; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, The residents of Glen Ellyn serve as models of 
3hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the 
4State of Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we congratulate the residents of Glen Ellyn on the occasion of 
8the village being named one of the top 100 Best Places to Live 
9in 2011 by Money Magazine and wish them continued success and 
10happiness in the future; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Glen Ellyn Village Manager Mark Franz as a symbol 
13of our esteem and respect.
