HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the staff, 
4students, and faculty of the University of Illinois Laboratory 
5High School in Urbana (Uni High School) on being ranked among 
6the top 1,000 public high schools in the country by Newsweek 
7magazine and The Daily Beast; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The University of Illinois Laboratory High School 
9in Urbana (Uni High School) is a public high school on the 
10University of Illinois campus with selective admissions; 
11students apply by submitting an application, SSAT (Secondary 
12Schools Admission Test) scores, recommendations, and more; the 
13school has students in grades 9 through 12, plus a combined 
14"subfreshman" 7th  and 8th grade class; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Uni High School ranked highest among high schools 
16outside of the Chicago metro region; Uni ranked high nationally 
17in college-preparatory exam scores; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, The average SAT score for Uni High was 2045, 
19putting the school in 10th place nationally for that category; 
20the average ACT at Uni was 31; Uni tied for sixth place 
21nationally for ACT scores; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate everyone involved at the University of Illinois 
4Laboratory High School on receiving this ranking; and be it

6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Dr. Jeff Walkington, Director of the University of 
8Illinois Laboratory High School, as a symbol of our respect and
