2 | WHEREAS, The Kane County Farm Improvement Association, | ||||||
3 | later to be named the Kane County Farm Bureau, was chartered on | ||||||
4 | December 31, 1912, and is celebrating its 100th anniversary; | ||||||
5 | and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The Kane County Farm Bureau was organized to help | ||||||
7 | farmers improve their production practices and later expanded | ||||||
8 | its interests to enhance the quality of life for member | ||||||
9 | families, promote all aspects of agriculture and advocate good | ||||||
10 | stewardship of our land and resources; and | ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, The Kane County Farm Bureau joined with similar | ||||||
12 | organizations in other counties to organize, cooperate and | ||||||
13 | coordinate efforts on a broader scale, and formed the Illinois | ||||||
14 | Farm Bureau in 1916 and American Farm Bureau in 1919; and | ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, The Kane County Farm Bureau supported | ||||||
16 | establishment of business services for farmers and member | ||||||
17 | families through the Illinois Farm Bureau such as: AgriVisor | ||||||
18 | Services, GROWMARK, Country Companies Mutual Insurance and | ||||||
19 | Financial Services, Prairie Farms, and the Illinois | ||||||
20 | Agricultural Auditing Association; and | ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Farmers came together to hire a farm advisor to |

1 | help improve agronomic practices; these farm advisors | ||||||
2 | eventually evolved into the Extension Service of Land Grant | ||||||
3 | Universities and the United States Department of Agriculture; | ||||||
4 | and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Over 17,000 families are members of the | ||||||
6 | association, making it the largest farm organization in Kane | ||||||
7 | County; and | ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Volunteer efforts by members of the Kane County | ||||||
9 | Farm Bureau have helped ensure Kane County remains a great | ||||||
10 | place to farm and has allowed people in Kane County to benefit | ||||||
11 | from the bounty farmers provide; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, The Kane County Farm Bureau contributed to Kane | ||||||
13 | County's establishment of an ordinance to protect farms from | ||||||
14 | nuisance lawsuits in 1991, the development of a storm water | ||||||
15 | ordinance to protect farmland in 2000, the establishment of a | ||||||
16 | Farmland Protection Program in 2001, and assistance to farmers | ||||||
17 | in maintaining productive soils with a farmland drainage | ||||||
18 | assistance program in 2003, all firsts for Illinois farmers; | ||||||
19 | and | ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, The Kane County Farm Bureau is active in the | ||||||
21 | community; each year the volunteer efforts of its members | ||||||
22 | provide educational programming to thousands of school |

1 | children, provide free public events that provide | ||||||
2 | entertainment and teach people about agriculture, and provide | ||||||
3 | hunger relief for thousands of neighbors in need through the | ||||||
4 | Harvest for All program; therefore, be it
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
6 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
7 | we recognize the Kane County Farm Bureau's continued commitment | ||||||
8 | to the residents of Kane County and the advancement of | ||||||
9 | agriculture in Illinois and send congratulations on the 100th | ||||||
10 | anniversary; and be it further
| ||||||
11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
12 | presented to the Kane County Farm Bureau as a symbol of our | ||||||
13 | respect and esteem.
