2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ronald E. "Ron" |
4 | | Kastner on the occasion of his retirement as President/Business |
5 | | Manager/Financial Secretary of the International Brotherhood |
6 | | of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union 21; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Kastner has been a member of the IBEW since |
8 | | 1968; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Kastner has served the IBEW Local Union 21 |
10 | | in a variety of leadership roles, including shop steward |
11 | | (1974), steward (1978), chief steward (1979), and business |
12 | | representative (1990); he served as Local 21's Vice President |
13 | | from 1996 to 1998 and has served in his current post as |
14 | | President/Business Manager/Financial Secretary since 1999; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Kastner served as a delegate to the |
16 | | International Convention from 1982 to 2011; he has served as a |
17 | | delegate to the Telecommunications Conference and as a board |
18 | | member of the Telephone Division to the IBEW State Conference; |
19 | | he has also served as a delegate to the Chicago Federation of |
20 | | Labor and was the IBEW Vice President of the Illinois AFL-CIO; |

1 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Kastner served as the Chief Union |
2 | | Negotiator during bargaining with SBC/Ameren and AT&T; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Kastner was named the Chairman of the |
4 | | System Council T3 and was designated the 2011 Person of the |
5 | | Year by the Northeast Illinois Federation of Labor; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Kastner has been a tireless advocate for |
7 | | his brothers and sisters in the labor movement; and |
8 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Kastner will enjoy his retirement by |
9 | | spending time with his wife, Judy; his sons, Ronald Jr., Jason, |
10 | | and Tim; and his granddaughter, Harper Elizabeth; he will also |
11 | | enjoy himself by collecting his most prized possessions, |
12 | | baseball cards; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Kastner will be sorely missed by his |
14 | | friends in organized labor, the telecommunications industry, |
15 | | and Illinois government and will be called upon for his wisdom |
16 | | and guidance on key issues; therefore, be it

17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
18 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
19 | | we congratulate Ronald E. "Ron" Kastner on his successful |
20 | | career in the Illinois State Capitol and thank him for his many |
21 | | contributions to organized labor; and be it further
