2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in |
4 | | the lives of Illinois citizens; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mary L. Haynes |
6 | | is retiring from the City of Peoria as the City Clerk; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Mary L. Haynes was born in Peoria Heights on July |
8 | | 17, 1942; she earned the designation of Master Municipal Clerk |
9 | | from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and holds |
10 | | both the Certified Municipal Clerk and Registered Clerk |
11 | | designations; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Mary has been an employee of the City of Peoria |
13 | | for 32 years and has served as the City Clerk and co-terminus |
14 | | Township Clerk for the last 27 years; Mary began her career |
15 | | with the City of Peoria in 1980 as a staff member in the |
16 | | clerk's office before being elected as Clerk in 1985; and |
17 | | WHEREAS, Mary is currently Chair of the Municipal Clerks of |
18 | | Illinois' Legislative Committee and the Rediscovering Peoria |
19 | | City Hall Committee, a Trustee and Board Secretary of the |
20 | | Firemen's Pension Board, and a member and Past President of the |
21 | | Municipal Clerks of Illinois (MCI); Mary has also served her |

1 | | community by offering her leadership to the International |
2 | | Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), Central Illinois |
3 | | Municipal Clerks Organization (CIMCO), Illinois Municipal |
4 | | League (IML), Trot for Tots, and the City's Speakers' Bureau; |
5 | | and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Her commitment to her profession has been |
7 | | exemplified by her receipt of the IIMC's highest award, the |
8 | | prestigious Quill, and 3 CIMCO Presidents' Awards; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, She co-founded the Central Illinois Municipal |
10 | | Clerks Organization (CIMCO) in 1988, brought the paperless |
11 | | agenda to the City of Peoria, made the Council Agenda available |
12 | | on the web, computerized the Council Records Index and Liquor |
13 | | Licensing Operations, and developed several seminars |
14 | | furthering the education and professional development of |
15 | | central Illinois' municipal offices; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
17 | | Representatives are joined in recognizing the retirement of |
18 | | Mary L. Haynes by her family; her son, Eric, her daughter, |
19 | | Kris, her grandson, Calvin, and her grandson, Alex; therefore, |
20 | | be it
