HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The Peoria Municipal Band was started on June 15, 
31937 through the efforts of Local 26 of the American Federation 
4of Musicians and interested citizens; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Dave Vroman has led the band for the past 21 
6years; at every performance, a given portion of his selections 
7are chosen to stretch the audience participants in the 
8appreciation of all types of music; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The Peoria Municipal Band is renowned for its 
10ability to play an amazing variety of music; more than 500 
11selections are made each season to be played to an audience of 
12thousands, including Sousa marches, jazz, musical scores from 
13movies, songs from Broadway musicals, and salutes to our 
14veterans; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Most of the 50 band members are from the greater 
16Peoria area, with the exception of one individual that travels 
17to and from Iowa to play with this exceptional gathering of 
18talented musicians; and

  
 
19    WHEREAS, In celebration of the band's 75th anniversary, the 
20Peoria Municipal Band is performing in a new location for all 
21Wednesday evening concerts; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate Dr. David Vroman and the members of the Peoria 
4Municipal Band on the occasion of the band's 75th anniversary 
5of providing entertainment to the Peoria community; and be it

7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the Peoria Municipal Band as a symbol of our 
9esteem and respect.
