| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to honor our friend and colleague, |
| 4 | | Illinois State Representative Ron Stephens, for his many years |
| 5 | | of dedicated service to the people of the State of Illinois; |
| 6 | | and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stephens was born on February 19, 1948, in |
| 8 | | East St. Louis, and raised in Caseyville; he is the son of Earl |
| 9 | | Stephens and Velma Stephens; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stephens earned his bachelor's degree from the |
| 11 | | St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 1975; he also attended |
| 12 | | Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stephens served his country with pride and |
| 14 | | distinction as a member of the United States Army from 1969 to |
| 15 | | 1971 as a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade; he was the |
| 16 | | recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his |
| 17 | | distinguished service; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stephens is a self-employed retail pharmacist |
| 19 | | and part-owner of 2 pharmacies in southern Illinois; he is also |
| 20 | | a partner at Freedom Enterprises and has served as a lobbyist; |
| 21 | | and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stephens served as a Trustee of the Village of |
| 2 | | Caseyville Trustee from 1981 to 1984; he also served as the |
| 3 | | Director of State of Illinois Emergency Management Agency from |
| 4 | | 1990 to 1991; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stephens served as the State Representative of |
| 6 | | the 110th District from 1985 to 1991 and as Representative of |
| 7 | | the 102nd District from 1993 to 2011; during his tenure in the |
| 8 | | House, he served as Assistant House Republican Leader for 20 |
| 9 | | years; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stephens is a member of numerous veterans and |
| 11 | | civic organizations, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars, |
| 12 | | Vietnam Veterans of America, the Freemasons, the Shriners, |
| 13 | | Scottish Rite, the Knights Templar, Sons of the American |
| 14 | | Legion, 173rd Sky Soldier, the Metro-East Pharmacy |
| 15 | | Association, and the State and National Pharmacy Association; |
| 16 | | he is also an honorary member of the Marine Corps League and a |
| 17 | | Chamber of Commerce member; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stephens and his loving wife, Lisa, have 9 |
| 19 | | children, Wendi, Chad, Kent, Tod, Chasity, Molly, Broc, |
| 20 | | Sabastian, and Jade, and 8 grandchildren, Layne, Emma, Eamonn, |
| 21 | | Paul, Asher, Lilian Lisa, Amelia, and Rose; therefore, be it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 2 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 3 | | we honor our friend and colleague, Illinois State |
| 4 | | Representative Ron Stephens, for his many years of dedicated |
| 5 | | service to the people of this State and wish him great success |
| 6 | | and happiness in his future endeavors; and be it further

| 7 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 8 | | presented to Ron Stephens as a symbol of our esteem and |
