2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are pleased to recognize the teachers and staff |
4 | | at Greenville Elementary School for their efforts in helping to |
5 | | save the life of Emma Young, a student at the school; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Emma Young is a kindergarten student at Greenville |
7 | | Elementary School with a life-threatening medical condition; |
8 | | to ensure her safety at all times, the staff at the school |
9 | | worked diligently to develop an individual emergency plan, |
10 | | named "Code Emma", that enabled all staff members that had |
11 | | contact with Emma to be knowledgeable about her condition and |
12 | | the various equipment needed to monitor her; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, During an incident in May of 2012, Emma passed out |
14 | | at school while waiting to go inside from recess; thanks to the |
15 | | diligence and great preparedness exhibited by the staff, Emma |
16 | | was quickly attended to and emergency services were summoned; |
17 | | in addition, during the episode, the staff turned on Emma's |
18 | | loop monitor, which enabled doctors to collect the relevant |
19 | | data and make a proper diagnosis of her condition; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Thanks to the efforts of the staff at Greenville |
21 | | Elementary School, Emma is receiving the care she needs and is |
22 | | expected to live a normal childhood; and
