HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of  
3Representatives are pleased to honor Jeff McBride for his many 
4accomplishments; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Jeff McBride has lived in the Waukegan area most 
6of his life; he is a graduate of Waukegan High School; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Jeff McBride was employed with the City of 
8Waukegan as a supervisor in the Public Works Department, where 
9he was employed for over 25 years; he also worked at the 
10Waukegan Park District as a basketball referee for over 22 
11years and as a coach for 25 years; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Jeff McBride currently serves as a trustee in 
13Waukegan Township; he served as a board member for Waukegan 
14Public Schools for 8 years; he also served on the Board of 
15Citizens Against Drugs and Alcohol program, the Advisory Board 
16for the Waukegan Library, and the Coalition to Recidivism and 
17has been an active leader of the Boys to Men's Series; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Jeff McBride is the founder of "Southside Positive 
19Youth", an organization that provides after school and summer 
20activities for low-income youth; through his organization, he 
21serves as a surrogate father, spending countless hours of his

1time teaching life skills, mentoring, and using his personal 
2assets to take youth to sporting events, the Universal Soul 
3Circus, plays, roller skating, concerts, and many other social 
4affairs, in order to expose them to a life that they probably 
5would not have experienced otherwise; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Jeff McBride is an active and dedicated member of 
7North Shore Church of Christ; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jeff McBride was the recipient of the 2010 
9Community Service Award from the Lake County Juneteenth Culture 
10Committee in recognition of his community service; therefore, 
11be it
  
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
13NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
14we honor Jeff McBride for his many accomplishments, thank him 
15for his great dedication to the welfare of the citizens of this 
16State, and wish him continued success and happiness in the 
17future; and be it further
  
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19presented to Jeff McBride as a symbol of our esteem and 
20respect.
