|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Steve K. Humphrey |
4 | | on the occasion of his retirement as Superintendent of DuPage |
5 | | High School District 88 after many years of service; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Steve Humphrey earned his bachelor's degree and |
7 | | master's degree from Western Illinois University and his |
8 | | doctorate from Illinois State University; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Steve Humphrey began his career at Brown County |
10 | | High School in Mt. Sterling in 1970; while at Brown County, he |
11 | | taught 7th-grade and 8th-grade social studies and high school |
12 | | history; in 1973, he began his administrative career by serving |
13 | | as the principal of Seymour High School in Payson; in 1976, he |
14 | | moved to Thornridge High School in Dolton, where he served as |
15 | | an administrative assistant and assistant principal until |
16 | | 1987; from 1987 to 1993, he served as assistant superintendent |
17 | | of Thornton High School District 205; from 1993 to 2001, he |
18 | | served as superintendent of Crete-Monee School District 201U; |
19 | | in 2001, he moved to DuPage High School District 88, where he |
20 | | served as superintendent of the District until his retirement |
21 | | in June of 2012; and
|
22 | | WHEREAS, During his career, Steve Humphrey was |
|

1 | | instrumental in numerous initiatives to improve the districts |
2 | | he has worked in, including the passing of a $104.7-million |
3 | | referendum to modernize the infrastructure and learning |
4 | | environments of the schools in DuPage High School District 88, |
5 | | Addison Trail High School and Willowbrook High School, in April |
6 | | of 2007; he has led innovative and creative programs that |
7 | | support student learning and comply with all federal and State |
8 | | mandates, from business partnership councils to college and |
9 | | career readiness programs; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Under Steve Humphrey's leadership, the 2 high |
11 | | schools in DuPage High School District 88 were named Top |
12 | | Schools in America from 2008 to the present by Newsweek and the |
13 | | Washington Post; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Steve Humphrey has been a member of several |
15 | | professional and community organizations, including the |
16 | | Consortium for Educational Change, the America Association of |
17 | | School Administrators, the Association for Supervision and |
18 | | Curriculum Development, the Illinois Association for |
19 | | Supervision and Curriculum Development, the Illinois |
20 | | Principal's Association, the Illinois State University |
21 | | Administrators Club, the South Holland Lions Club, the South |
22 | | Suburban Hospice Organization, Aunt Martha's Youth |
23 | | Organization, the South Suburban Chamber of Commerce, the |
24 | | Addison Association of Industry and Commerce, the Addison |

1 | | Intergovernmental Team, the Addison Unity Task Force, the |
2 | | Addison Business-Education Partnership, Partners for Inspired |
3 | | Education Foundation, the District 88 Foundation, the Villa |
4 | | Park Rotary Club, and the Villa Park Chamber of Commerce; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Steve Humphrey serves as a model of hard work, |
6 | | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of |
7 | | Illinois; therefore, be it
|
8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
9 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
10 | | we congratulate Steve K. Humphrey on the occasion of his |
11 | | retirement, thank him for his many years of dedicated service |
12 | | to the people of the State of Illinois and DuPage High School |
13 | | District 88, and wish him many happy and healthy retirement |
14 | | years; and be it further

15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
16 | | presented to Steve Humphrey as a symbol of our esteem and |
17 | | respect.
