2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to honor the Myra Rubenstein Weis | ||||||
4 | Health Resource Center and Eileen and Paul D. Goldstein, MD, | ||||||
5 | and their mission to promote health education and awareness to | ||||||
6 | the communities served by Highland Park Hospital and NorthShore | ||||||
7 | University HealthSystem; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Eileen and Paul D. Goldstein, MD, established the | ||||||
9 | Myra Rubenstein Weis Health Resource Center at NorthShore | ||||||
10 | Highland Park Hospital in memory of Eileen's sister Myra, who | ||||||
11 | died of breast cancer in 1990 at the age of 49; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, The Goldsteins partnered with family and friends | ||||||
13 | to create the Center, housed on the first floor of the | ||||||
14 | Hospital, so that patients could get confidential and credible | ||||||
15 | health information; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, It was 16 years ago when Myra Rubenstein Weis held | ||||||
17 | its first luncheon to raise funds for the Center and other | ||||||
18 | patient-centered programs; as founders and honorary chairs, | ||||||
19 | the Goldsteins help to underwrite the cost of the luncheon, and | ||||||
20 | their family and friends do their part as well; the parade of | ||||||
21 | the faithful attend the event and raise funds for Myra | ||||||
22 | Rubenstein Weis-sponsored programs every year; and

1 | WHEREAS, What began as a tribute to honor Myra is now a | ||||||
2 | vital part of NorthShore and the communities it serves; to date | ||||||
3 | the group takes great pride in the projects it has funded, | ||||||
4 | including providing free health information and health | ||||||
5 | screenings; participating in and supporting community health | ||||||
6 | fairs, outreach programs, and support groups; delivering | ||||||
7 | health information to patients and families at NorthShore | ||||||
8 | Highland Park Hospital; supporting breast cancer early | ||||||
9 | detection with self-instruction video and breast models; | ||||||
10 | funding a televised patient education channel in patient rooms | ||||||
11 | at NorthShore Hospitals; funding the Living in the Future | ||||||
12 | (LIFE) Cancer Survivorship Program and its Myra Rubenstein Weis | ||||||
13 | Survivorship 101 seminar series: Thrivership; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Last year's luncheon grossed over $135,000, | ||||||
15 | bringing the group to nearly one million dollars raised since | ||||||
16 | beginning; therefore, be it
| ||||||
17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
18 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
19 | we honor the Myra Rubenstein Weis Health Resource Center and | ||||||
20 | Eileen and Paul D. Goldstein, MD, on the occasion of the annual | ||||||
21 | benefit luncheon and thank them for all they do for the | ||||||
22 | community; and be it further

2 | presented to Eileen and Paul D. Goldstein, MD, as a symbol of | ||||||
3 | our respect and esteem.
