1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
2 | | WHEREAS, John R. Crozier, Jr. was a 15-year member of |
3 | | Laborers' Local 911 in Ottawa and was a certified flagger for |
4 | | 10 years; on May 22, 2003, he was hit by a drunk driver while |
5 | | serving as a road construction flagman at a construction site |
6 | | on Illinois Route 23; he passed away from his injuries 4 days |
7 | | later; and

8 | | WHEREAS, Flaggers like John Crozier, Jr. assume the risk of |
9 | | serious injury or death in the course of their daily work, in |
10 | | order to assure the safety of construction crews at work on the |
11 | | roads of Illinois; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, It is fitting that we honor the memory of John |
13 | | Crozier, Jr. and remember the tragic event that took his life; |
14 | | therefore, be it
|
15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
16 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
17 | | we designate the portion of Illinois Route 23 south of the City |
18 | | of Ottawa as the John R. Crozier, Jr. Memorial Highway; and be |
19 | | it further

20 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation |
21 | | is requested to erect, consistent with State and federal |
