2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ellis A. |
4 | | Flaws, who passed away on February 19, 2012; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, He was born on March 7, 1931 in Philadelphia, |
6 | | Pennsylvania, the son of Ellis Gordon and Mary Louis Ashworth |
7 | | Flaws; he graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology |
8 | | in 1953; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army for 2 years; |
10 | | he was a long-time agent for State Farm Insurance; and he was |
11 | | very committed to working with the Boy Scouts; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, He served as a precinct captain from 1956 until |
13 | | his passing and was elected President of the Rich Township |
14 | | Republicans for 2 terms; he was elected and served as Township |
15 | | Constable; he was elected Rich Township Highway Commissioner in |
16 | | 1961, and served for 2 subsequent terms; in 1989, he was |
17 | | elected Township Trustee and served 4 terms; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, He was a founding member of the Crawford |
19 | | Countryside Civic Association and served as President for many |
20 | | years; and |
|

1 | | WHEREAS, He was a member of the Crawford Countryside Civic |
2 | | Association, helped form the Crawford Countryside Sanitary |
3 | | District, as well as serving on the Board as Trustee and as |
4 | | President; he was an active member of the Lions Club, the |
5 | | Matteson Chamber of Commerce, the Rich Township Republican |
6 | | organization, and Trinity Evangelical Covenant Church in Oak |
7 | | Lawn; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Ellis Flaws was the beloved husband of Lois M., |
9 | | nee Kreml;
the loving father of Jeffrey (Abigail DeMuth) Flaws |
10 | | and Rebecca Flaws; the cherished brother of Norma (the late |
11 | | James) Fisher, Mary (Richard) Jackson, and the late Gordon |
12 | | Flaws and Sylvia (William) Corey;
and the dear uncle of W. |
13 | | David Burdett, James Fisher, Scott Wheeler, William Corey, Jodi |
14 | | Corey, Larry Corey, Peter Eichmiller, and Phil Eichmiller; |
15 | | therefore, be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
17 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
18 | | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of |
19 | | Ellis Flaws; and be it further

20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
21 | | presented to the family of Ellis Flaws as a symbol of our |
22 | | sincere sympathy.
