2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to honor the Mother's Trust | ||||||
4 | Foundation for its value to the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, The Mother's Trust Foundation is a non-profit | ||||||
6 | organization supporting social service providers by offering | ||||||
7 | assistance to children in need in Lake County; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Since being founded in 1998, the Mother's Trust | ||||||
9 | Foundation has provided more than $1,200,000 to assist over | ||||||
10 | 14,000 children; some of the grants provided by Mother's Trust | ||||||
11 | this year have been for basic clothing needs, trip funding for | ||||||
12 | a student to attend a college tour as a senior, auto repairs, | ||||||
13 | and fees to obtain vital records such as birth certificates and | ||||||
14 | other legal documents; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Clients come to Mother's Trust through requests | ||||||
16 | made by social service professionals, school counselors, | ||||||
17 | social workers, court workers, and other such trained | ||||||
18 | individuals; it is through these relationships that clients can | ||||||
19 | be vetted as to the extent and legitimacy of their needs, a | ||||||
20 | function that is critical for Mother's Trust Foundation to | ||||||
21 | operate responsibly; and

1 | WHEREAS, Every week throughout the year, the volunteer | ||||||
2 | Mothers Trust Service Committee and staff meet to review grant | ||||||
3 | applications; the criteria for receiving help are simple: the | ||||||
4 | request must come from a qualified professional; the child (age | ||||||
5 | 21 and under) must reside in Lake County and clearly benefit | ||||||
6 | from the assistance; the needs cannot be met in full anywhere | ||||||
7 | else; and the benefit request must be time-limited; in 2011, | ||||||
8 | $205,682 in grants were made to 3,117 Lake County children and | ||||||
9 | their families; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Mother's Trust is a unique and valuable resource | ||||||
11 | in Illinois because it is often able to make benefits and | ||||||
12 | opportunities available which cannot be obtained from other | ||||||
13 | sources; the Foundation's goal is to assist children in trouble | ||||||
14 | or crisis, raise awareness of children's needs, link needs with | ||||||
15 | community resources, and provide opportunities for volunteers | ||||||
16 | to be involved; therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
18 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
19 | we thank the Mother's Trust Foundation for its dedication to | ||||||
20 | the children of the State of Illinois and wish the Foundation | ||||||
21 | continued success in the future; and be it further

22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
23 | presented to the Mother's Trust Foundation as a symbol of our |
