2 | WHEREAS, The Illinois Bankers Association is a | ||||||
3 | full-service trade association dedicated to creating a | ||||||
4 | positive business climate that benefits the entire banking | ||||||
5 | industry and the communities it serves; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The Bank of Edwardsville has partnered with the | ||||||
7 | Illinois Bankers Association to provide EverFi, an | ||||||
8 | award-winning financial literacy platform using the latest in | ||||||
9 | new media technologies to create a highly interactive | ||||||
10 | experience for high school students including adaptive | ||||||
11 | pathing, 3-D gaming, social networking, online animations, | ||||||
12 | video, and messaging tools to teach students core financial | ||||||
13 | topics such as banking, savings and budgeting, mortgages, | ||||||
14 | credit cards, financing higher education, stocks, 401(k) | ||||||
15 | plans, credit scores, insurance, taxes, and more; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, The Bank of Edwardsville is fully funding the | ||||||
17 | EverFi financial literacy program in 14 area high schools to | ||||||
18 | ensure that each school fulfills the State mandate for | ||||||
19 | financial literacy education without the use of a single tax | ||||||
20 | dollar; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Forty-three students from Collinsville High | ||||||
22 | School were the first students in Illinois to graduate from the |

| |||||||
1 | nationally-recognized EverFi financial literacy program by | ||||||
2 | successfully completing each module of the program; these | ||||||
3 | students are now certified in hundreds of core financial | ||||||
4 | topics; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, The graduation and certificate award ceremony was | ||||||
6 | held on February 8, 2012 at Collinsville High School; State | ||||||
7 | Senator Kyle McCarter, Republican spokesman on the Senate | ||||||
8 | Financial Institutions Committee, Dr. Robert A. Daiber, | ||||||
9 | Madison County Regional Superintendent of Schools, John | ||||||
10 | Miller, Mayor of the City of Collinsville, and Linda Koch, | ||||||
11 | President and CEO of the Illinois Bankers Association, were all | ||||||
12 | featured speakers at the ceremony; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Students, teachers, parents, bank | ||||||
14 | representatives, and community leaders were also on hand to | ||||||
15 | witness the accomplishments of the students who now have the | ||||||
16 | best possible start when it comes to handling their finances; | ||||||
17 | their hard work in learning these tools will help them for the | ||||||
18 | rest of their lives; therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
20 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
21 | we commend the Illinois Bankers Association and The Bank of | ||||||
22 | Edwardsville for their sponsorship of financial literacy | ||||||
23 | programs for high school youth and we congratulate the |

1 | Collinsville High School students upon their graduation from | ||||||
2 | the EverFi financial literacy program; and be it further
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
4 | delivered to the Illinois Bankers Association, The Bank of | ||||||
5 | Edwardsville, and Collinsville High School.
