2 | | WHEREAS, Sarah Salameh, an esteemed resident of Plainfield |
3 | | and a senior at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in |
4 | | Aurora, has achieved national recognition for exemplary |
5 | | volunteer service by receiving a 2012 Prudential Spirit of |
6 | | Community Award; and

7 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious award, presented by Prudential |
8 | | Financial in partnership with the National Association of |
9 | | Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across |
10 | | America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to |
11 | | serving their communities; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Sarah Salameh earned this award by spending last |
13 | | summer volunteering with the environmental group SCARCE |
14 | | (School and Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting |
15 | | Education); much of Sarah's time was spent volunteering for the |
16 | | SCARCE Book Rescue by helping teachers in low-income schools |
17 | | select much-needed books and supplies; and

18 | | WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the strength |
19 | | of our communities, and the overall vitality of American |
20 | | society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young |
21 | | people like Sarah Salameh who use their considerable talents |
