| 2 | | WHEREAS, America's Blood Centers (ABC) is North America's |
| 3 | | largest network of community-based, independent, non-profit |
| 4 | | blood centers; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, America's Blood Centers was founded in 1962 in |
| 6 | | Scottsdale, Arizona by a group of independent community blood |
| 7 | | centers, with the mission of helping member blood centers serve |
| 8 | | their communities; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The members of America's Blood Centers provide |
| 10 | | half of the U.S. blood supply and a quarter of the Canadian |
| 11 | | blood supply; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, The members of America's Blood Centers serve more |
| 13 | | than 150 million patients by providing blood products to more |
| 14 | | than 3,500 hospitals and health facilities throughout North |
| 15 | | America; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, For the past 50 years, America's Blood Centers has |
| 17 | | provided its members with opportunities to share its best |
| 18 | | practices and collaborate to help them effectively manage the |
| 19 | | organizations that help save or sustain the lives of millions |
| 20 | | of patients; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, In 2002, the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood |
| 2 | | Centers (ICCBC), based on the model of America's Blood Centers, |
| 3 | | was founded in Springfield as the first state-wide association |
| 4 | | of community blood centers in the nation; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Since 2002, the Illinois Coalition of Community |
| 6 | | Blood Centers has effectively served its mission of advocacy |
| 7 | | and raising public awareness for the need for voluntary blood |
| 8 | | donations; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, All of the members of the Illinois Coalition of |
| 10 | | Community Blood Centers are active members of America's Blood |
| 11 | | Centers; therefore, be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 13 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 14 | | we congratulate the members of America's Blood Centers on the |
| 15 | | occasion of its 50th anniversary and thank the organization for |
| 16 | | its 50 years of service and commitment to a safe and adequate |
| 17 | | blood supply for our nation; and be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That we congratulate the members of the Illinois |
| 19 | | Coalition of Community Blood Centers on its 10th anniversary |
| 20 | | and thank the organization for the decade of service and |
| 21 | | commitment to a safe and adequate blood supply for our State; |
| 22 | | and be it further
