|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Susan Balling on |
4 | | her retirement as Assistant to the Director for the Northeast |
5 | | DuPage Special Recreation Association; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, She began her career with the Northeast DuPage |
7 | | Special Recreation Association (NEDSRA) on May 23, 1977; she |
8 | | has provided the ethical leadership and mentoring of younger |
9 | | staff to build NEDSRA into a gold medal winning Association; |
10 | | and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, She received her education at Southern Illinois |
12 | | University; she began her career with NEDSRA as the first |
13 | | Recreation Supervisor; she initiated the first 8 programs and |
14 | | the first 2 day camps; she has played a major role in growing |
15 | | those services to over 800 programs, camps, and services; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, She was instrumental in creating the first local |
17 | | Special Olympics Track and Field Meet for any Special |
18 | | Recreation Association; in 1982, she was recognized as the |
19 | | Illinois Park and Recreation Association's Outstanding Young |
20 | | Professional; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, In 1988, she was recognized as the Illinois |

1 | | Therapeutic Recreation Sections Outstanding Professional in |
2 | | Illinois; in 1996, she was recognized by the Illinois Park and |
3 | | Recreation Association (IPRA) with their Meritorious Service |
4 | | Award; and she received the Illinois Therapeutic Recreation |
5 | | Sections Distinguished Service Award in 1999; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, She has served as a mentor for the NEDSRA staff as |
7 | | well as many other park and recreation professionals for over |
8 | | 30 years; she has published multiple articles for IPRA/IAPD |
9 | | magazine and presented at many parks and recreation State and |
10 | | national conferences; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, She has organized the development and educational |
12 | | opportunities for the NEDSRA staff for over 30 years and has |
13 | | challenged all of the staff to reach their potential and strive |
14 | | for excellence in their personal performance; she has completed |
15 | | hundreds of studies for the board and staff and the field, in |
16 | | the course of delivering excellent services for people with |
17 | | disabilities; therefore, be it

18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
19 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
20 | | we congratulate Susan Balling on her retirement and wish her |
21 | | the best in her future endeavors; and be it further
