2 | | WHEREAS, The Naperville Public Library has consistently |
3 | | served the residents of Naperville since 1898; and

4 | | WHEREAS, The Naperville Public Library currently provides |
5 | | library services in 3 full-service facilities and online to |
6 | | 88,000 card holders, circulating over 4.6 million items per |
7 | | year; the library also responds to nearly 295,000 reference |
8 | | questions annually and hosts over 1,800 programs annually for |
9 | | more than 83,000 attendees of all ages; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, The Naperville Public Library has demonstrated |
11 | | strong fiscal responsibility throughout its years of operation |
12 | | and has, over the past 3 years, steadily decreased its property |
13 | | tax rate while maintaining the highest level of service; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, The Naperville Public Library has consistently |
15 | | operated at a level of optimum efficiency and staffing to serve |
16 | | the residents of Naperville; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, The Library Journal Index of Public Library |
18 | | Service, a national rating system based on Institute of Museum |
19 | | and Library Sciences data, most recently rated 7,513 public |
20 | | libraries throughout the Unites States to identify a concise |
21 | | and straightforward set of indicators of library service |
