2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Staff | ||||||
4 | Sergeant Ari Richard Cullers of Waterford, Connecticut, who | ||||||
5 | passed away on October 30, 2011; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, SSG Ari Cullers was born in New London, | ||||||
7 | Connecticut; he joined the Army soon after graduating from | ||||||
8 | Waterford High School in 2001; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, SSG Ari Cullers was a member of the Army's | ||||||
10 | Headquarters Company, Brigade Special Troops Battalion, Third | ||||||
11 | Brigade Combat Team of the Army's 10th Mountain Division, based | ||||||
12 | out of Fort Drum, New York; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, SSG Ari Cullers earned numerous awards for his | ||||||
14 | meritorious service, including the Bronze Star, the Purple | ||||||
15 | Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, | ||||||
16 | the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service | ||||||
17 | Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, | ||||||
18 | the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense | ||||||
19 | Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officers Professional | ||||||
20 | Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas | ||||||
21 | Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, the Combat Action Badge, the | ||||||
22 | Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver W Bar, the Combat and |

1 | Special Skill Badge, the Basic Marksmanship Qualification | ||||||
2 | Badge, the Meritorious Unit Commendation (Army), and the | ||||||

4 | WHEREAS, SSG Ari Cullers was preceded in death by his | ||||||
5 | grandfather, Benjamin David Cullers Sr.; his grandmother, | ||||||
6 | Madeline Epperson; and his cousin, Jeremy Ferrell; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, SSG Ari Cullers is survived by his father, | ||||||
8 | Benjamin David Cullers Jr., and his wife, Stachia Cullers; his | ||||||
9 | mother, Robin E. Cornele; his brother, Jacob Cullers; his | ||||||
10 | grandmother, Kay Cullers; his uncles and aunts, Gene and Ruth | ||||||
11 | Teal, Bruce and Jana Cullers, Janice Reyes, Daniel Coleman, | ||||||
12 | Kimball Poletti, Shawn Cornele, Jeffery Epperson, Carol | ||||||
13 | Coleman, Pamela Coleman, Kathy Coleman, and Patricia Burt; and | ||||||
14 | his many cousins and their families; and | ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, SSG Ari Cullers' patriotism and courage will be | ||||||
16 | remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow soldiers, | ||||||
17 | and the citizens of our grateful nation; therefore, be it
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
19 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
20 | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of | ||||||
21 | Staff Sergeant Ari Richard Cullers; and be it further
